Paula Pounds Out the Jokes

Homelessness is not funny, but there were plenty of laughs to be had at The Levitt Pavilion Friday night as comic Paula Poundstone stood and delivered joke after joke — all for the cause.

Poundstone's performance was hosted by Westport's Homes With Hope, a non-profit that works to find solutions to homelessness. This was the group's third annual Stand Up For Homes With Hope comedy night.

Money raised from the event will go to benefit the full-service organization, which runs the Gillespie Center/Hoskin's Place, an emergency shelter for men and women, a family shelter, and a community kitchen that serves about 40 meals a night. Homes With Hope also provides permanent housing and even provides pre-vocation job programs.
