OSSINING, N.Y. A tree lighting and visit by Santa has been postponed until Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. due to rain that is expected on Tuesday.
The tree lighting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will take place at Market Square at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, and Santa is expected to arrive on a big red sleigh with elves from the Ossining fire department at 7 p.m. Market Square is located at the corner of Main and Spring Streets.
The event is sponsored by the Ossining Recreation and Parks Department. There will be hot cocoa, cider and cookies, and Christmas carols will be sung.
On Saturday, Santa and Mrs. Claus are also expected to be at a breakfast at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center. There will be two breakfast sessions at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Free gift bags and candy cane stockings will be given out and there will be a holiday sing along show.
