Ossining Students' Films To Be Shown At Brookside

OSSINING, N.Y. – A screening of three-minute films created by sixth and seventh graders who studied invasive plants over the summer will be shown on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Brookside School.

Guided by teacher Cynthia Bardwell, students in the Ossining Summer Science Academy identified and researched invasive plant species that live along the nature trail behind Brookside School.

Students restored several areas of the nature trail with native plants, and they created short films about invasive plants with the help of members of the Jacob Burns Film Center's video training program.

"The films... are as varied as the students themselves," said Ellen Lane, a public relations coordinator for the Ossining school district, in a press release.

The Summer Science Academy was funded by a grant from Ossining MATTERS, a non-profit education foundation that raises funds to help support Ossining schools.
