Orangetown Creates 'Do Not Knock' Registry

ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Orangetown has created a ‘Do Not Knock” registry for residents who don’t want to be contacted by commercial solicitors at their homes or businesses, police said Wednesday.

To get on the registry, apply at the town clerk’s office.

The clerk will maintain a list and those who sign up will get a free sticker to display on their doors or windows.

Police said that folks who violate the “Do Not Knock” rules will be subject to prosecution under the town’s hawking and peddling laws.

The town clerk's office is located at 26 W. Orangeburg Road, Orangeburg.
