“We are all working together and doing more with less,” Odell said in a statement. “It is, again, Albany’s inability to act on allowing the counties to have some oversight over the unfunded mandates, which consume 90 percent of our budgets.”
Despite an increase in unfunded mandates, Odell thinks the proposed 2016 Budget will allow the Administration to work with the Legislature to fulfill the fiscal and social responsibilities to the people of Putnam.
“The budget we are putting together is firm but fair,” Odell said. “It is fair to our residents, to our employees, the outside agencies and most importantly to the taxpayers.”
Putnam County will once again be hosting a Business Expo prior to the start of the budget address to highlight businesses, organizations and not-for-profits throughout Putnam. Community pillars such as Putnam Hospital Center and new arrivals such as the Brewster Bulldogs Professional Hockey Team will be featured. The Expo, starts at 5 p.m.
