Romanski lived in Nutley but was raised and spent much of his life in Lyndhurst, according to his obituary on the Nazare Memorial Home website. He lived briefly in West Milford before moving to Nutley in 2012.
As a teenager, he worked as a party DJ and later discovered a passion for automobiles, fixing up cars and building skills that led to a successful career in auto sales, including many years at Franchini Chevrolet in Garfield, where he was known for his knowledge and honesty, his obituary reads.
Later in his career, Romanski transitioned into the financial field, working as a mortgage analyst for Wells Fargo in Paramus, according to the release. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and is survived by his children, Henry, Karoline, and Charlotte Romanski, as well as his mother, Barbara (Paolini) Romanski, his brothers Gary, Paul, and Phil Romanski, and many extended family members and friends.
Phil mourned his brother in a Facebook post as his best friend. He recalled being intimidated by his older brother when they were young, before a turning point on the baseball field, when Romanski put his arm around him and said, “throw strikes, they can’t hit you.”
A memorial Mass will be offered at Mount Carmel Church in Lyndhurst on Monday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m., with guests asked to arrive by 9:45 a.m. Cremation will be private. Click here for Dave Romanki's complete obituary on the funeral home website.
