Lisa Erickson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and neglect of an elderly adult, Attorney General Jennifer Davenport said. Per the terms of a plea agreement, Erickson will permanently forfeit her nursing license, and faces 364 days in county jail, Davenport said.
On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Erickson was working as a nurse at Whiting Gardens when she walked toward the elderly man, who was diagnosed with dementia, depression and anxiety, and sprayed him at close range as he attempted to shield himself, Davenport said.
She then sprayed him again before leaving him on the floor, Davenport said. He remained unattended for several minutes before he crawled to stand up and entered another resident’s room, Davenport said.
Erikson and another person then forcibly removed the man from the other resident’s room, placed him inside his own room, and shut the door, where they left him without providing any aid, Davenport said. Police and emergency medical services later responded to the center, treated the victim, and transported him to a hospital, Davenport said.
