Nuns Pull Hard for Students' Dads

Nothing says "Happy Father's Day" like nuns having a tug-of-war. At least that was the case at Cove Island Park yesterday, where Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten held its year-end picnic, timed conveniently to double as a Dad's Day bash.

"The sisters are just great," said Brian Martin, whose 5-year-old son Anthony has spent the last three years at Our Lady of Grace. "They're so warm, and they honestly treat every child like one of their own. Look at them! They're out there doing tug-of-war, water balloons, painting faces. The kids love going there."

Brian's older sons - 12-year-old twins–went to a different preschool in the area, and he says there's no comparison. "When you look at what you get for the money ... and the sisters are so reasonable. I'm an electrician, and I'll help them out if they need something. I can't charge them. I can't! How could I do that?"

Anthony will move on to Davenport Elementary next year for first grade. "My wife is sad to leave the sisters," said Brian. "If we had another one, we'd definitely send him to Our Lady of Grace."
