Kadence Faucher, 5, made some friends on the beach Sunday, not including the crab they pulled out of the water. Kadence and fellow Norwalkers Kota Faucher, 19 months, Sierra Elmore, 7, Eben Muir, 5, and Abigail Muir, 6, enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend together at Calf Pasture Beach, although the two families had not met before.
Jim Muir, Abigail's dad, said it was the first time they had gone to the beach this year. "It's the best day for it, too," he said.
The weather Sunday was just about perfect, with a high temperature of 81 degrees, according to Weather Underground. Monday's forecast includes a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 88 degrees.
A woman checking stickers said there were less people overall at the beach than there were during Memorial Day weekend last year, but that a higher percentage of them were local.
Just a reminder -- if you didn't get your beach sticker yet, don't take off the old one. It's good through this season. You don't need a new one.
