NORWALK, Conn. If you were among the lucky majority, you can stop feeling sorry for your neighbors: Norwalk's power outage is over for everyone.
State Sen. Bob Duff, D-Norwalk, has been keeping track with regular announcements on his Facebook Page. At 5 p.m. Tuesday, he said ZERO Norwalkers were without power. That announcement was accompanied by a link to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performing "Hallelujah." At 1 p.m. Tuesday, Duff announced that six Norwalkers were without power.
Ed Phillip was among the unlucky few who had gone without. He said via Twitter that his family had gotten power back Thursday only to lose it again two hours later when a transformer blew. Power was restored to his neighborhood, "next to Norwalk Hospital," on Sunday.
Maureen Milano DeNunzio said via Facebook that her family was in the dark for six days "no lights, no phone, no Internet, no TV, no warm showers." Her elderly mother lives with her and has a medical condition that requires electricity for treatment. She also has two young children and lost the food in her two refrigerators and freezer.
"CL&P gives you advance notice of potential power outages (as a courtesy), but that means diddly squat when it comes down to getting your power back on," she said. "Mom needs oxygen 24/7 and uses a stair lift to get to her bedroom upstairs. Thank God we had a large tank of liquid oxygen to use to fill up her travel portable tanks (every eight hours)."
Congratulations to those who are suffering no more. May you fare better next time.
