NORWALK, Conn. -- Reports from the Norwalk Athletic Association softball games:
Patchens Auto Parts Orioles vs. Uncle Joes Saints
Vanessa Joseph and Esabella Troisi had two RBI apiece to lead the Saints in a close season opener against the Orioles. Isabella Vuoso had two hits and two runs scored, while Julia Breen scored twice after walks. Jolie Lubin singled in Brianna Thelusca for the Saints other run. Pitcher Riley Page allowed only two runners in three great innings of work. Jessica Parker, Margaret OConnor and Faith Vuoso all walked twice to help the offense.
The Patchen Auto Parts Orioles opened their season with a hard fought game vs the Saints. Caroline Petropoulis, Julia Patchen, and Alicia O'leary provided timely hitting, while Julianna Ferreira, Mikayla Lewis and Abigael Liu made excellent plays in the field. Kristen Viscardi and Anna Pasiakos excelled on the mound.
Norwalk PAL Wildcats vs. Giglio Electric Sting
Giglio Electric Sting played the Wildcats for the first game of the season. Jordan Hogan, Megan Lombardo pitched for the Sting. Daniella DiBlasio caught the entire game, while Chloe Reidy, Bianca Kave and Mia Generoso backed their pitchers up well in the field. Mallory Hart and Isabella Giordano each had a hit.
Rex Marina Bears vs. New Canaan Pride
The Rex Marina Bears kicked off the season with a great team effort vs. the New Canaan Pride. Kaitlyn Belinsky, Isabella Bardos, Kate Greco, Delia Jordanides and Isabel Anbar led the hit parade. Emily DiCostanzo walked three times. Riley Finn and Meredith McDonald made excellent defensive plays, and the team got clutch pitching from Jenifer Haller to secure our outstanding team effort.
Patchen Auto Parts Orioles vs. Rex Marina Bears
The Patchen Auto Parts Orioles had a great team effort vs the Bears. Clutch hitting was provided by Peyton Korzenik, Amber Gioseffi and Rachel Iannazzo while outstanding defensive plays were made by Caylie Balducci and Jocelyn Mullins. Catherine Sheehan highlighted the pitching efforts.
The entire bears team had a tremendous day hitting the ball. Katelyn Greco, Emily Pollard, Delia Jordanides Riley Finn, Emily DiCostanzo, Ashley Wilson, Kyra Lynn and Isabella Bardos got on base multiple times. Meredith McDonald had two grand slams.
Rex Marina Bears vs. New Canaan Thunder
Emily DiCostanzo kicked off the game by facing four batters, striking out three and only walking one player, and Kate Greco, Delia Jordanides and Sophie Jones made nice defensive plays. Kyra Lynn, Meredith McDonald and Isabel Anbar got on base multiple times.
Patchen Auto Parts Orioles vs New England Oil Hawks
The Patchen Auto Parts Orioles hosted the Hawks in an exciting game. Offensive leaders included Mikayla Lewis, Abigail Lui, Caylie Balducci and Jocelyn Mullins. Kristen Viscardi, Julianna Ferreira, Amber Gioseffi and Alicia O'Leary made strong defensive plays. Outstanding pitching efforts were provided by Julia Patchen and Rachel Iannazzo.
Rob Cardini Foundation Falcons vs. New Canaan Pride
Ally Mills pitched two strong innings and had a double at the plate. Hailey Dube pitched two innings and had an RBI and Jessica Good had three putouts at third base.
Rob Cardini Foundation Falcons vs. Norwalk PAL Wildcats
Vicky Tsiranides had a key hit that sparked a rally and made a great putout at third base. Sukhmani Kalia and Jessica Trujilllo each did a great job catching the Falcons pitchers.
Erica Giglio pitched for the Wildcats and had a stellar game. Lila Young led the hitting with a double and a single. Carly DeMichael, Mia Lanzurotto, Carsyn Langhorn, Briana Muro, Benni Tucci, Erica Giglio and Samantha Pierre also had hits.
Giglio Electric Sting vs. New England Oil Hawks
Isabella Arvanitis and Jordan Hogan combined to pitch a great game while catcher Isabella Brousseau also played well and contributed a key hit. Alexa Ross-Paul, Nora Hagerty, Jordan Brown, Kaitlyn Giglio also played well. The Sting played a good game defensively and offensively.
