NORWALK, Conn. The Norwalk 12-year-old Cal Ripken All-Stars begin play in District 1 tournament Saturday against Stratford at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan. First pitch is 2 p.m.
The winner advances to the winners bracket final Monday against the winner of Saturdays 11 a.m. game between New Canaan and Greenwich. The District 1 champion will go on to play in the state tournament.
Norwalk tuned up for the tournament by playing in a tournament earlier this month in Bethel. Norwalk won its first two games before being eliminated with consecutive losses.
Norwalks roster includes Corey Acevedo, Michael Claps, Matthew Clarke, Christopher Druin, Jack Feinstein, Brendan Huertas, Andrew Matthews, Jordan OBrien, Griffin Root, Matthew Saint-Louis, Joseph Sepuca and Chris van der Els. The team is managed by Mike Claps, assisted by Richard Matthews and Mitch van der Els.
