Norwalk Resurfaces Tennis Courts

NORWALK, Conn. -- Say goodbye to those annoying cracks on Norwalk's public tennis and basketball courts. The city is resurfacing select courts throughout the summer. Tuesday morning, Angel Vega of Dalton Tennis and Track, a Cheshire-based court maintenance company, filled cracks at Ludlow tennis courts near Marvin Elementary school. Vega says he'll give the courts a new coat of paint in the coming days.

Michael Mocciae, the city's director of Recreation and Parks, says basketball and tennis courts in SIlvermine and Broad River will be resurfaced and the courts behind Nathaniel Ely school in South Norwalk will undergo repairs. Grassroots Tennis, the popular program for inner city kids, regularly uses the Nathaniel Ely courts.

In addition, tennis courts at Norwalk High and Matthews Park will be resurfaced. Mocciae says these courts "get tremendous play."

Next year, Mocciae says the courts at Fox Run School will get completely rebuilt.
