Are you close to your breaking point with a disobedient dog? Enter Norwalks answer to the dog whisperer: Darraugh Cianfichi of Vollmer Avenue.
Darraugh and her husband, Ben Cianfichi, have a yard filled with dog agility training equipment. (Who knew dogs loved seesaws?) Darraugh and Ben knew that they have a nationally ranked, agility award-winning dog of their own. For years, Darraugh and Ben have been getting dogs of all ages to do new tricks and break old habits, all through praise and rewards.
Darraugh, with her contagious laugh and affable spirit, nudges you over to the side of love instead of loathing for that dog that ate your new pumps and made a mockery of your carpet. She has the touch, perhaps because Darraugh grew up with a dog that could be sent on his own to the grocery store, coin purse in mouth, and return with a bag of jelly doughnuts, uneaten. Even when it feels like all hope is lost, Darraugh and Ben can restore household harmony in a few fun lessons.
If dogs have had some socializing before 19 weeks, Darraugh said, they will respond. Ask Trisha Hayde, of West Norwalk. With only one lesson, Lilly comes back when shes called and is walking on a leash without pulling. Darraugh would say: Yesss! Excellent! or perhaps just simply a sweet sounding Beeeeeautiful.
Ever notice that at just the right moment on Wall Street in Norwalk, theres a parade of beautiful people racing across the street with their purple or orange yoga mats? After snooping around Fat Cats on Wall Street, it became obvious: This colorful crowd is coming from Saraswatiss Yoga Joint.
David Tuillo, an employee of Fat Cat, said, They frequently come in here. I do yoga, there, too. They have the best classes. Then they come in here, so their feet can come back down to touch the ground.
At the front desk at Saraswatiss Yoga Joint, Liz Wilson confirmed. Definitely, yoga is the secret to beauty inside and out. It is good for everyone, even if youre out of shape. We have something for everyone. People from all over Fairfield County come here. We have a very loyal clientele. Ommm, it's something to think about.
Most of us feel like we deserve a gold star for putting up with this past winter. After all, we did choose to live in Norwalk, not Buffalo. But for some, it must have felt like they dozed off and woke up in Buffalo. Late in December, Julie Quan and Venus Ou, employees of the EDO Restaurant near the Norwalk/Wilton line on Main Avenue, took their usual bus ride home to Queens, N.Y. But instead of taking an hour, the trip took more than 12 hours because of the snow! Julie Quan said, We felt lucky that we didnt have an accident, because we saw so many accidents. Venus Ou added, After we slept for two hours at home, we headed back to the restaurant and reopened at 3:30, the next day. Now thats dedication and certainly is deserving of a gold star. Maybe five stars, like the sushi and sashimi weve come to adore.
