NORWALK, Conn. Sixth-grader Chaz Brescia just spent two weeks in the company of the Norwalk Police Department, and his mother couldn't be happier. "It's amazing," Tina Brescia said of the annual D.A.R.E. camp. "They were so busy he came home exhausted."
Chaz and other D.A.R.E. campers finished their two weeks with a ceremony Friday at police headquarters, where everyone received a certificate and had their photo taken with Mayor Richard Moccia and Police Chief Harry Rilling before having lunch.
Brescia said highlights of the camp for her son included meeting a police dog and going to Norwalk Superior Court. Chaz, who will attend the Board of Education's personal fulfillment camp at Norwalk High School this week, said the officers he met were "nice."
Camper Jake Buffardi said going to Lake Compounce on Thursday was his favorite camp activity, especially the BoulderDash roller coaster. He also liked the police personnel. "Officer Giles was really funny," said Jake, who is heading for the play and learn camp at Cranbury Elementary School this week.
His mom was pleased he went to the D.A.R.E. camp. "I was so happy I was able to get him in," she said. "It was two weeks of a lot of fun stuff, all his friends are jealous."
