Bergenfield Mayor Arvin Amatorio announced the teen boy's loss on Friday, Sept. 18, saying he had spoken with the teen's father. The boy died the night before.
“Our Bergenfield community continues to mourn the heartbreaking loss of one of our high school students,” the mayor said.
“I spoke with the student’s father and personally expressed our community’s deepest condolences, prayers, and support. Let us surround the family with compassion while continuing to respect their privacy.”
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 29 North Washington Ave. in Bergenfield, according to Amatorio.
“May we continue to hold the student’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and the entire Bergenfield school community close in our hearts and prayers.”
