FISHKILL, N.Y. – Nicholas Galasso, a resident of Fishkill, died Friday, Jan. 15. He was 98.
He was born on May 23, 1917, in the Bronx to Giuseppe and Maria (Potenza) Galasso.
Galasso served with the U.S. Army in World War II, landing on Utah Beach during the invasion of Normandy.
He married Jeanne Helen Thiebert on April 6, 1946.
He had a long career with A & P, and retired in 1979 as produce manager.
He is survived by his children, Richard Galasso and his wife, Josette of South Carolina; Robert Galasso and his wife, Catherine of Pleasant Valley; Donna Fitzgerald and her husband, Jimmy of Fishkill; and Carol Galasso of Westchester County; and his grandchildren, Nikki Watkins, Craig Galasso, Jeannie Kraus, Scott Fitzgerald, Diana Sefcik, and his great-grandchildren, Ohanna, Toni-Ann, Brandon, Jenna, James, Ava, and Santino.
His wife died in 2008.
He was predeceased by all of his siblings, Philip Galasso, Leonard Galasso, Millie DiMartino, Frank Galasso, Margaret Galasso, Anthony Galasso, and Anna Galasso.
