WANAQUE, N.J. — Wanaque officials have a new home after leaving the 100-year-old former municipal building.

The old borough hall on Ringwood Avenue was razed in late September and municipal services migrated to a new one built right next door.

"It's nice to have a clean, fresh working environment with the upgrade in electronics and communications," Borough Administrator Tom Carroll told Daily Voice after an Oct. 17 dedication ceremony. "It makes us able to serve the public better."

Most municipal employees moved to the new building in June, followed by the police department in September, Carroll said.

The only work that remains he said, is on the parking lot in front of the building.

The old building was -- well, old. It wasn't fully wheelchair accessible and lacked insulation.

"Now we have a state of the art building that will hopefully last another 100 years," Carroll said.

Because of the construction and limited parking, he said, tax, water and sewer payments will be taken at the following locations on the following dates:

Wanaque First Aid Squad — Melrose Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 through Friday, Nov. 6

Golden Age Club from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4

Wanaque Reserve Clubhouse — 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday Oct. 29 and Thursday, Nov. 5
