New Stamford Facility Offers Squash Programs

STAMFORD, Conn. – Chelsea Piers Connecticut is registering squash players for its lineup of programs at the new sports facility in Stamford. The squash program is directed by United States national champion Natalie Grainger and the club features 11 singles courts and one doubles court.

Events will include organized pick-up games, tournaments, drop-in matches, camps and learn-to-play clinics. Sessions will be scheduled throughout the week and on weekends to ensure maximum flexibility.

Programs include an adult camp on Monday, drop in and summer pro league matches on Tuesdays, mixed adult events on Wednesdays, social doubles matches on Thursdays, learn to play clinics on Saturdays and summer tournaments on Sundays.

Squash members are available for children, singles and families. Starting in September, membership will be required for continued access to the club. Squash club members will also receive access to the aquatics center, fitness center and other benefits.

Squash programs at Chelsea Piers Connecticut: 

  • Tuesday “Drop In” and Summer Pro League Match (Juniors, adults and doubles): Summer Pro League with matches played on Tuesday evenings. Members can come and watch the best pros in the area every week starting July 10. Non-members are invited to “drop in” and watch the matches and can bring their racquets on the below dates. Courts are reserved for “drop in” players to play. July 31 and Aug. 28; 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday Shot-Gun Event (Mixed Adult): Tournament style event that is based on time. Prizes are given to the winners. July 18, Aug. 1, 15, 29; 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Thursday Socials (Mixed Adult and Doubles): Organized pick-up games. July 12, 19, 26, Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; 6 p.m.
  • Saturday Morning Learn-To-Play Clinics (Adults, juniors and doubles). Learn basic techniques and the rules of the game. Clinics include time for all participants to play matches and the opportunity to stay longer to practice new skills. July 14, 21, 28, Aug. 11, 18, 25; 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Sunday Summer Tournament (Adults and juniors). Tournament style play day. Competitive matches for players of all levels are arranged depending on ranking. CPCT prizes are given to the winner of each division. July 22; 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Adult Summer Camp (Mixed adult) Taught by Racquets Director and U.S. National Champion Natalie Grainger, Adult Summer Camp covers basic technique, movement patterns, game strategy and fitness drills. Aug. 4; 10 a.m. – 12:30p.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Aug. 5; 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
