NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Did you know that former New Rochelle property owner John Stephenson was the inventor of the first streetcar to run on rail in the United States.
Stephenson and his wife Julia visited New Rochelle during summer outings with their three children. The family then purchased a large section of shoreline property creating a year-round residence.
