New Rochelle....Did You Know?

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Did you know that a Civil War memorial is in your city where Huguenot and Main streets meet?

The commemoration was constructed 30 years after the end of the war, in 1895, and honors all those from New Rochelle who were dedicated to the cause from 1861-1865.

A plaque on the bottom of the statue reads "tribute of New Rochelle to her loyal sons erected 1895."

A red white and blue wreath sits directly below a cemented "1861-1865" and above a triangular evergreen space.
