NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The main New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Childrens Library will be closed Sundays from June 24 through Sept. 2, 2012 community relations coordinator Barbara Davis said.
"Every summer, across America, libraries adjust their hours in July and August because their is traditionally much less library usage on summer weekends -- and libraries need to provide for staff vacations," Davis said in an e-mail.
"Although many libraries are totally closed on summer weekends, the main New Rochelle Public Library will remain open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays to accommodate the scores of patrons who can only come to the library on a weekend to check-out books, DVDs and other materials," she said in the e-mail.
"We also know that even more patrons rely on access to library computers and the Internet, as well as our job-readiness services and computer instruction they need to take on a weekend," she said in the e-mail.
The Huguenot Childrens Library will be closed Saturdays from June 30 through Sept. The main library will be open Saturdays from July 7 through August 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
