EnvisioNR 2016 is designed to “provide a framework to guide future development and preservation that reflects current and anticipated environmental, economic and social conditions.”
The next collaborative meeting will concentrate on sustainability goals as the community and elected officials continue to determine what matters most to the public regarding the plan.
New Rochelle began updating the comprehensive plan back in 2012 before re-launching EnvisioNR 2016 in May, with a public meeting that was attended by more than 100 well-intentioned residents. The city has partnered with the PACE Land Use Law Center and planning firm BFJ to help develop and complete the plan.
Since naming RDRXR as master developers for the “most ambitious redevelopment in New Rochelle history,” city officials have been developing the comprehensive plan as “a tool for how and where to accommodate growth, protect the integrity of local neighborhoods and strengthen the economy.”
The public meeting on sustainability goals will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 8 at City Hall Annex Room B-1. There will be a public meeting on the New Rochelle downtown redevelopment on July 8 at Cross Cultural Solutions on Clinton Place.
