New Castle, Did You Know?

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y.--Did you know that there is a motion picture of Chappaqua?  The 1966 cult film entitled Chappaqua, is directed, produced and starring Conrad Rooks. The film Chappaqua is based on Rooks' experiences with drug addiction. In this semi-autobiographical tale, Rooks travels to France to enter a drug-withdrawal cure while flashing back to psychedelic San Francisco, California.

The film depicts Chappaqua, New York as a sleepy hamlet in Westchester, with a few minutes of wintry panoramas. The quiet, peaceful setting symbolized drug-free, suburban, childhood innocence.

Chappaqua was filmed mostly at the Chappaqua Indian Reservation, as well as New York City and Paris, France.
