NEW CANAAN, Conn. Beginning Monday, vacuum trucks will be picking up leaves raked to the curbside of homes with an acre of property or less.
Residents are asked to rake their leaves to the curb but to not include brush or debris in those piles. Residents in other areas will be asked to take their leaves to the towns composting area at the Waveny Park entrance on Lapham Road. Contractors will be screened to be sure that the leaves taken to the composting area originate in New Canaan. Compost will be made available to town residents next spring for use in gardens.
The mulch site will be opened daily from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Leaves may be raked to the curbside until Nov. 28. The leaf mulch site will be available through Dec. 9.
