Green Berets 14, Army Rangers 14 The Green Berets shut-down a frantic comeback by the Army Rangers to preserve a 14-14 draw this Saturday.
The Green Berets batted-around in the first, jumping out to a big eight run lead. The hit parade was led by Travis Sturcke, Taylor Brown and Riley Gardiner, who each stroked three hits on the day.
The Rangers defense stiffened in the middle innings, with Beau Ahrens, Chase Boshnack and Alex Ainsworth recording critical outs to keep things close.
Chris Luchette triggered a Ranger comeback when he snared Gardiners sky-high fly ball in the final frame to retire the Green Berets scoreless. Then, after clutch hits from Brendan Holahan and John Paul Underhill, Luchette ripped a bases-clearing double to tie things up.
But the Berets would not yield. Flynn Coffey and Brendan Keogh capped outstanding defensive performances, flashing leather to record the final two outs and preserve the eventual tie.
Navy Seals 17, Blue Angels 17: On a cool and crisp Saturday morning, the Navy Seals and Blue Angels battled to a 17-17 tie. The Navy Seals excelled defensively throughout the game, led by Charlie Mehos and William Schneider. On offense, they were paced by four hits apiece from Robbie Hellman, Alex Howe, and Justin Higgins. The Blue Angels bats heated up late in the contest, led by Christopher Bopp, Cooper Dinan and Reese Hanrattie. The defense for the Blue Angels was led by Matthew Boland and Sully Franz.
