Netflix has greenlit "Monopoly," a competition series that will pit 12 contestants against each other in an enormous version of the classic board game. The streaming giant announced that it's looking for potential competitors to take part in the show, which will debut in fall 2027.
Applications are now open for people hoping to become one of the 12 players selected for the series. To apply, you must upload a one-minute video explaining why you want to be on the show, along with your game plan and what you'd do with the prize money.
Contestants will enter a life-size Monopoly Town Square, where they'll earn money and buy properties originally based on locations in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Just like in the board game, players will be eliminated one by one after losing all their money. The last contestant standing will take home the $2 million grand prize.
Studio Lambert is producing the series with Hasbro Entertainment. The production company is also behind other similar competition shows such as "Squid Game: The Challenge," "The Circle," and "The Traitors."
The competition series is separate from a "Monopoly" movie being developed by Hasbro, Lionsgate, and actress Margo Robbie's company, LuckyChap.
