Nature Suits Monkey and Her Master

Chris Bubbers wouldn't know about his inheritance if it weren’t for his dog Monkey. Because he needs to take Monkey outside, the Norwalk man has discovered late in life that he loves being outdoors. "It's genetic," he said, noting that his father was an outdoors person.

The senior Bubbers was in a quandary when he was young. He couldn't take the idea of being inside and he didn't know what he would do for a living. Then he heard a civil engineer has to suffer through all kinds of weather in the course of his job, so that was for him. It was a career he stuck with.

Bubbers said he has plenty of time to walk Monkey now because "there are no jobs in IT." He spends much of the day outdoors, often at Taylor Farm dog park, where Monkey has been enjoying the snow tremendously. She rolls around in the snow and becomes an ice magnet. "It gets in her eyes and then she starts rubbing the ice away," he said. "And, of course, it gets bigger and bigger."
