Nancy Eillen Strohmeyer, who was 66 years old at the time, was reported missing out of Germantown in February 2016 after she stopped communicating with family and could not be found inside her home, according to Montgomery County police.
Strohmeyer lived in the 13100 block of Millhaven Place, where investigators say she last spoke with a family member by phone at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016.
She was never heard from again.
When relatives checked on her the following day, police said her bed had not been slept in and her morning medication had not been taken — raising immediate concern that something was wrong.
Investigators believe Strohmeyer may have left her home during the evening hours, and police have long worried about her safety because she was living with Alzheimer’s/dementia and left without her medication.
Now, a full decade later, detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department’s Cold Case Unit are renewing their efforts, hoping fresh eyes — or a memory triggered by time — could finally bring answers.
At the time she went missing, Strohmeyer was described as 5-feet-7 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with shoulder-length blonde hair. Police say she may have been wearing a tan coat over a turquoise sweatshirt.
An age-progressed image has since been created to show how she might look today.
Anyone with information about Strohmeyer’s disappearance is urged to contact the Montgomery County Police Department Cold Case Unit at 240-773-5070.
After ten years, detectives say even the smallest detail could matter.
