Mt. Kisco Shops Back in Business

MT. KISCO, N.Y. – Ray Henley said people were happy to realize Tuesday that M&R Deli had reopened after Tropical Storm Irene had forced it to close.

“People saw the lights on and that was that, they just started coming in,” Henley said. “It's pretty much the same but you can feel the hurricane atmosphere.”

Christine Pesola, manager of Fannie's Goodie Shop Frozen Yogurt Café, said Tuesdays are generally busy because the movie theater next to her shop offers free showings for Optimum Rewards members. However, this week there were even more customers.

Many businesses in Mount Kisco didn’t open Monday because of power outages in the area.

Henley said his deli has been there for more than 30 years, and, although the town has experienced loss of electricity before, it was nothing like this. He said he has seen many utility employees who were brought in from out of town to help with the disaster.
