MOUNT KISCO, NY-- With Hurricane Irene expected to thunder its way across our area tomorrow night into Sunday, the Village of Mount Kisco is taking its precautions to make sure its residents are well-prepared for flooding, power outages and road closures.
Here are a few suggestions on how to prepare your family from the Village of Mount Kisco's website:
Assemble a disaster supply kit with food, water, medical supplies, and prescription drugs.
Maintain important documents in a waterproof container.
Secure or bring in outdoor furniture, grills and loose items in your yard.
Have supplies of batteries, flashlights and a battery operated radio.
Ensure that your car is full of fuel prior to the storm.
If your electric service goes out, Mount Kisco residents are advised to directly contact Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED. Residents are also advised not to approach any downed electrical wires.
