MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- With thousands still powerless, local residents of Mt. Kisco and its surrounding areas are getting out of the house and flocking to town establishments where they can grab lunch, surf the web, and read.
The Mt. Kisco Library and Frannies Goodie Shop were just a couple of the Main St. businesses abuzz on Tuesday with customers. Carolyn, a Cross River resident, came to town today to scour options for tonights take-out dinner (she has no electricity at home) at Flying Pig on Lexington or another local restaurants. She also stopped by the library to print directions off MapQuest. And she, like many of her neighbors, hasnt been given a definitive answer on when her electrical service should return.
[My family and I] dont live in a very densely populated area so [the electrical company] may not get to our house for a whileits the worst the area has ever faced, she said.
At Frannies, locals of all ages were still trying to enjoy whats left of the summer season by spending the warm afternoon snacking on cups of frozen yogurt.
We still cant take shower or use our electricity at home, so we came today to try out [Frannies] and to enjoy the nice weatherweve heard a lot about it from neighbors, said Kelly Cook, a Mt. Kisco resident.
The electricity in town buildings and entertainment venues, like the Mt. Kisco Theatre and the Mount Kisco Village Hall, also returned Tuesday.
