MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- The Mega Millions jackpot reaches half a billion dollars this Friday, the biggest it has ever been.
By noon, the attendant at the Mobil station at 680 E Main St. said a good number of people had already bought tickets.
Oh yeah, a lot of people have been coming in, said cashier Sukhi Singh. We dont count but its been a lot of people. Were drawing it tomorrow.
According to MSNBC, people in more than 40 states have a chance to try for the grand prize. But they are up against 1 in 176 million odds.
I dont even know why Im doing this. My daughter got a four leaf clover so I was like I guess Ive got to go do it, said Denise Burke, who was buying five tickets.
She said she was even wearing her Irish wedding band for luck.
It's all about being Irish apparently. It's the month I guess," said Burke, laughing.
