At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new campaign headquarters of Peter Michaelis, the Republican-endorsed candidate for Westchester County Legislature in District 2, The Bedford Republican Town Committee Monday night announced the re-election campaign of Supervisor Lee Roberts and Luke Vander Linden, as a newcomer who is running for the Town Board.
Roberts, Vander Linden, and Michaelis all took part in cutting the ribbon at the new headquarters at 23 Parkway in Katonah.
The ceremony may have been held at the new headquarters for his campaign, but Michaelis said he wont be spending too much time there. Im going to be spending a lot of time in the district going door to door, he said.
Michaelis said he is looking for reform in Westchester County.
Im running as a part of the smarter, smaller government. We cannot afford their kind of government any more. We need to make some serious changes, he said.
Roberts has been Bedford Town Supervisor since 2003, Its been my good fortune to lead this wonderful town, she said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Were currently working on many important local initiatives.
Roberts said that she wanted to continue the initiatives that were in progress. Our environmental record is recognized throughout the county and beyond, she added. Ive worked hard on our municipal budget under increasingly hard cutbacks.
Upon announcing his intention to run for a spot on the town board, Vander Linden said he thinks he can bring fresh eyes to Bedford government. There needs to be a fresh look injected in to things, he said.
Vander Linden, who said he is already extremely involved in the community, looks forward to running for a seat on the Bedford Town Board, Bedford is like volunteerism on steroids, people want to be active in this town, Vander Linden said.
