Carlisle police went to a home in the first block of South Pitt Street on Wednesday, Sept. 9, while investigating the missing person’s whereabouts.
Officers saw signs indicating the person was inside and spent hours negotiating with the tenant, 43-year-old Michael Boyd Sr., asking him to allow the person to come to the door, according to the department.
Police eventually obtained a search warrant and took Boyd into custody. He resisted officers during his arrest, authorities said.
After Boyd arrived at Cumberland County Prison, officials found a folding knife concealed on him, according to police.
The missing person was located safely inside the residence and was being reunited with family members, authorities said. Police did not release that person’s name.
Boyd was charged with possessing implements of escape, obstructing the administration of law, and resisting arrest.
A judge denied Boyd bail, citing him as a flight risk and raising safety concerns. The docket also notes a history of assault, resisting arrest, providing false identification to law enforcement, and “ICC,” without further explanation.
Boyd remained held at Cumberland County Prison pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 1:15 p.m.
