Michael Aunce, 67, Stamford Engineer

STAMFORD, Conn. – Michael J. Aunce of Stamford died June 17 at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, N.Y. He was 67. He died of pancreatic cancer, which he was diagnosed with nine years ago. 

Born August 15, 1944, in Stamford, he was the son of Joseph and Anna Swiatowicz Aunce. He graduated from New York University with a master's degree in electrical engineering. 

Aunce worked for Pavarini Construction as an engineer for 15 years. He was a member of the Ponus Yacht Club. He also volunteered at Our Lady Star of the Sea School for Halloween Watch, painting the school and building a playground for the children. He enjoyed fishing with his children, boating, golfing, bowling, gardening and remodeling his home. 

Aunce is survived by his wife, Rita A. Aunce, of Stamford; two daughters, AnnaMarie C. Aunce, of Stamford, and Marybeth Aunce Oberndorfer, of Glastonbury, Conn.; a son, Joseph M. Aunce, of Stamford; and a sister, Lorraine Aunce Campion, of Bristol, Conn. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia's Church in Stamford. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
