PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Memorial services for the city sanitation worker who died Monday after falling from a garbage truck last week will be held today and a funeral will be held on Thursday.
Visitation hours at the funeral home for John E. Fischer will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at The Nardone Funeral Home at 414 Washington St. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Cortlandt Manor. City Hall will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the funeral.
Fischer, 40, had been at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla in critical condition following the accident on Main Street on April 13 in which he had suffered a head injury.
