PEEKSKILL, N.Y. Four candidates are running for two seats on the Peekskill City School District Board of Education in Tuesday's election.
Of the four, Trustee Marcela Bobe is the only incumbent, since current board vice-president Fran Feuerman is not seeking another term.
Bobe, 47, is finishing the third year of her first term on the board. She is an associate director of planning and analysis at QSP/Time Inc and attended the Universidad de Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Bobe said she decided to seek another term on the board in order to help carry out the plans that have been made by the board in her first term.
"There are different projects that the district has been working on the last year and a half that has allowed us to have a pretty clear idea of exactly where we are, good and bad, and to identify the best possible solutions with the limited resources that a district like ours has," Bobe said. "I thought it would be an honor for me to serve a second term because I think we are really capable of doing great things and I would like to be part of that."
Bobe said she was proud of the diversity in the district that her two daughters were exposed to and said it was one of the district's strong points. She said she was a strong candidate because had shown she wasn't afraid to ask tough questions.
"I will never settle for the easy answer," Bobe told the audience. "I will always push for excellence."
