The lockdown at the district's six schools was caused by a "reported threat," The Matawan Aberdeen school district said. All students and safe, the district said.
County and local law enforcement investigated and determined that the threat is not credible, the district said.
All schools except the high school are dismissing at their normal time, families can expect bussing delays, the district said.
There will be an increased police presence at each of the schools at dismissal.
"The safety and security of our students and staff are top priorities," the district said.
