Martin Daniel Williams, 20, was arrested this week following a month-long investigation into a December ambush that left a man with serious injuries, according to the Frederick Police Department.
Investigators say that on Dec. 5, 2025, officers were called to the 1400 block of Taney Avenue in Frederick to investigate reports of an armed robbery.
Police say the victim drove to the residence after a woman asked for a ride. When he arrived, he was met by three men instead.
One of them pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim multiple times, struck him with the weapon, and stole money before forcing a monetary transfer using the victim’s cellphone, investigators said.
Detectives with the Frederick Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit identified Williams through evidence collected during the investigation.
Charges were filed this week after detectives executed a search and seizure warrant at the same Taney Avenue apartment where the robbery took place.
The Monrovia resident was arrested without incident and charged with:
- Two counts of second-degree assault;
- Armed robbery;
- Theft of between $100 and under $1,500.
The investigation remains active, and police say other suspects are still being sought.
