The rescue unfolded shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, along the 700 block of Pratt Street, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.
When crews arrived, they found a man in the water and immediately activated the department’s dive team.
Divers entered the harbor and began what Baltimore Fire described as a rapid search. The man was located in the water and removed by rescue crews, according to officials.
Paramedics provided medical treatment at the scene before the man was transported to a local hospital. Officials have not released the man’s condition or said how he ended up in the water later on Thursday afternoon.
The incident drew a large emergency response to one of Baltimore’s busiest waterfront corridors Thursday afternoon as rescue crews worked along the harbor beside pedestrians, restaurants, and tourist traffic near the Inner Harbor.
No additional details were released Thursday evening.
