A man is at large after an attempt to use self checkout at a supermarket in Montclair went horribly awry, authorities announced this week.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, a man was having difficulty using the self checkout at the Acme Supermarket at 510 Valley Rd., Montclair police said.
The frustrated man proceeded to punch the computer monitor at the customer service desk, knock over a display of gift cards and Red Bull cans, shove a Red Bull merchandise fridge, stomp on a Red Bull can causing it to puncture, and leave the store without paying for his items, police said.
The suspect is described as a Black man, 5'8", balding with gray hair, bloodshot yellow tinted eyes, wearing a black jacket and over 50 years old, police said.
