Man, 36, Dies After Being Shot In Albany — Suspect Gets Murder Charge (Update)

A man died after being shot multiple times in Albany on Sunday evening, April 19, and a suspect now faces a murder charge.

Officers responded around 7:10 p.m. on Sunday to reports of gunfire near Myrtle Avenue and Grand Street, according to the Albany Police Department. 

When they arrived, officers found a 36-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated at the scene by Albany Fire Department personnel and EMS before being rushed to Albany Medical Center Hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The victim has since died, Albany Police confirmed. His name has not been released. 

Police said Albany resident Cire Gray, 25, has since been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting. 

He was taken into custody near Arch Street and Grand Street, police said. He will be arraigned on Monday morning, April 20, in Albany City Criminal Court. 

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Albany Police Detective Division at 518-462-8039. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Capital Region Crime Stoppers.

Albany Police are expected to provide additional details during a press conference scheduled for noon on Monday.
