The adopted $78.4 2013-14 million budget is an increase of about 5.49 percent from the current budget and carries a tax levy increase of 3.4 percent.
The tax rate will rise 3.66 percent, from $637 to $660 per $1,000 of assessed property value. The amount will keep the district below its state-calculated tax cap. For more information on the adopted budget, see our previous budget story.
There are six candidates vying for three contested seats on the board of education: Maria Pereira, Adriana Ariza, Jillian Clausen, Shannon Casiano, Nick Nicolaysen and incumbent Michael Simpkins.
