Lucienne Rose Dupre, 102, Knitted Blankets

NORWALK, Conn. – Lucienne Rose Dupre, 102, an active Norwalker, died Sunday at the Waveny Care Center with her children by her side. A resident of Norwalk for more than 68 years, Dupre was a library technical assistant at Norwalk Community College for 16 years before her retirement at the age of 70. She was a communicant at St. Matthew's Church, where she was a member of the New Horizons. She sewed Baptismal gowns for St. Matthew's until she was 94. She also knitted blankets for the layette program at Norwalk Hospital.

She was the wife of Nazarice N. Dupre, a former French teacher at Brien McMahon High School. Dupre made her home with daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Richard Bartoli, until she moved to Waveny in 2008. She was born and raised in Canada and moved to Connecticut after getting married. She became a U.S. citizen in 1947.In addition to her daughter Claire, Lucienne is survived by another daughter, Louise Gagnon and her husband, Dr. Raymond Gagnon of Falmouth, Mass.; her grandchildren, Anne Marie and Roger Silva of Norwalk, Michael and Jennifer Gagnon of Cary, NC., John and Christina Gagnon of Falmouth, Catherine and Michael Sintros of Contoocook, N.H., Marc and Carrie Gagnon of Franklin, Mass., and Nazarice Dupre of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Burial was at St. John Cemetery. Remembrances in her name may be made to St. Matthew's New Horizons Scholarship Fund, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, CT 06854, the School Sisters of Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Road, Wilton, CT 06897 or the Waveny Care Center, 3 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT 06840.
