STAMFORD, Conn. Louis Bobo Stabile, 81, died at his Stamford home on Wednesday, Nov. 30. He was born on Aug. 30, 1930, in Cos Cob.
After graduating from Stamford High School in 1949, he went to work in the engineering department of Dorr-Oliver, and except for a stint in the armed forces, stayed there until he retired in 1985. After retiring, Stabile worked at the Glass Store, and also served on the Water Pollution Control Board for the city in the 1970s.
Baseball was his passion, and he played for the Connecticut Yankees as a teenager and later coached at the Babe Ruth level. Stabile also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking.
Stabile is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Palmer Stabile; his sister, Rita Lucia; two sons, Louis Stabile and his wife, Maria, and Larry Stabile and his wife, Mary; four grandchildren, a great-grandchild and five step-children. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gina Morgera Stabile, and two brothers, Ray and Richard Stabile.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Lacerenza Funeral Home for calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Bridgets of Ireland Roman Catholic Church in Stamford at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Darien.
In lieu of flowers Stabiles relatives ask for donations in his memory to a charity of your choice. One of his favorite causes was St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
