Brown joined the Andover Township Police Department 911 Center in November 2000 as a part-time dispatcher before becoming a full-time employee in May 2004.

"Throughout her career, Kim was known for her exceptional dispatching skills and her extensive knowledge of the NCIC system, which made her an invaluable resource to her colleagues and the officers she supported," the Andover Township Police Department said.

When someone was in crisis, police said Brown provided a calm and steady voice, offering reassurance to callers, gathering critical information and ensuring help was dispatched swiftly and accurately.

"Kim made sure to always check on her officers' safety and made this her first priority," police said.

Kim also worked as a dispatcher for the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department, Hardyston Police Department, and Sparta Police Department, police said. She also served as a matron for the Hamburg Police Department, police said.  She also was a past member of the Sussex Fire Department EMS and the Ladies Auxiliary.

"Kim’s professionalism, experience and unwavering dedication to public safety left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside her," police said. "She will be deeply missed by her coworkers, the law enforcement community, and all those whose lives she touched through her years of service."
