The crash happened just before 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 19, on Mineral Springs Road, about a half-mile north of Trout Brook Road in Cornwall, the Town of Cornwall Police Department confirmed on Monday, April 20.
Police said the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 was traveling southbound when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail on the opposite side, and then went over it.
The truck continued down the embankment before crashing into a tree.
The driver, identified as Logan Malone, 19, of Cornwall, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Town of Cornwall Police Detective Division.
Several other agencies helped at the scene, including the Town of Woodbury Police Department, New York State Police, Cornwall EMS, the Cornwall Fire Department, the Woodbury Fire Department, and the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.
