KATONAH, N.Y. Bedford-raised, Kimberly Foxs vocal prowess kept an attentive audience Wednesday night at the Katonah Village Library, though many were surprised to learn that the jazz singers day job entails a computer classroom.
Fox, who performed in the Piano Fund Benefit hosted by the library, was joined by former big band pianist Bob LoPiccolo, bassist Claude Preese and saxophonist Tom Litzeberger.
Fox said she was happy to come back to Bedford, where she grew up and considers her second home.
I grew up in this library, when this room wasnt even here, she said.
Now, a resident of North Salem, Foxs travels have landed her in front of a classroom of computers at Rippowam Cisqua School. When she is not teaching, she is on the other end of a lesson -- as a student of the music.
I dont teach music, Fox said. My kids all know I sing and whistle all the time. They've asked me why I don't teach music. And I answer, Because I need to learn music before I can teach it!
The computer teacher, music student put on a show for more than 20 locals Wednesday evening those who attended gave donations to keep the piano that was used in mint condition.
