After National Lione lost its first game, to Norwalk, in the District 1 Little League tournament, few fans thought it would make it to the championship game. But that's exactly what has happened.
Isaiah Ramon's two-run double in the bottom of the sixth helped Lione stun Springdale, 8-7, in the semifinals of the tournament Thursday night at Caporizzo Field. Lione meets North Stamford in Saturday's final at 4:30 p.m. at Noto Field.
Springdale took a 1-0 lead in the first on a home run by John Galatro, but Lione rebounded, scoring four in the first and two in the second. Then Springdale surged back with three runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a 7-6 lead, which set the stage for Ramon. John Pollock got the win for Lione.
Danny Meduri had a two-run single in the third and Thomas Costigan belted a two-run double in the fourth for Springdale.
